Drugs, guns confiscated in Alliance, Ohio area raidsALLIANCE, Ohio — Simultaneous raids were conducted on two Alliance residences by multiple agencies from Stark and Columbiana counties Thursday resulting in confiscation of drug paraphernalia and weapons.
At about 1:14 p.m. Thursday, according to Alliance, Ohio police, 45 officers converged to execute search warrants at 741 Pike St. and 11811 Walnut Ave., Alliance, Ohio.
At the Pike Street residence of John Cameron, 39, members of the Alliance, Ohio Special Response Team and the Columbiana County, Ohio SWAT team located separately packaged baggies of marijuana, an electronic scale, evidence of drug use and numerous loaded handguns and high-powered rifles, Ohio police reported. Cameron was not present and currently is wanted on warrants for trafficking in drugs stemming from the lengthy investigation and new felony charges stemming from Thursday’s raid.
Searchers at the Walnut Avenue residence of William Cameron, 35, found a small amount of marijuana and a semi-automatic pistol. Any charges resulting from that search by the Stark County SWAT Team and Stark Metro Narcotics Unit will be brought by the Stark County, Ohio Sheriff’s Office, police said.
The raid was the culmination of a year-and-a-half investigation into illegal cocaine and marijuana distribution and sales in both Stark and Columbiana counties, police said.
Stark County, Ohio Child Protective Services gathered information at both sites to determine action needed to provide for safety of children who reside there, police said.
The investigation is ongoing.
Also participating in the raid were the Alliance, Ohio Police Department Special Investigations and Criminal Investigations Units, Columbiana County Sheriff’s Department, Stark County Violent Crimes Task Force, Ohio Adult Parole Authority, Ohio Adult Probation Department, Stark County ISP Unit.
